Ted - - Childhood friend of Mom-s - he died in 1998 in Portland. He worked for many years with Lockheed as a chief negotiator, etc. . He was an exceptional organist and left me much of his music. He was also a fighter pilot in WWII. He was shot down over northern France and
stayed hidden there for almost a year before captured by the Germans. He spent the remainder of the war in prison camps until liberated at the end of the war. One of the stalags he was at was the famous stalag where "The Great Escape" occurred a year earlier. He told me that the Germans did not treat him kindly, but her survived. He had reluctantly agreed to an interview, but his sudden death prevented that. He died in his chair at home watching TV and, of course, just finishing a cigarette. His wife, Niola, related this to me later |
